as we all know the lovely Miss Mabel is almost completely white :wub:

i am aware of the horror stories of white cats and dogs suffering from sun burnt ears, and even though we live in the very North of Scotland, we do actually get quite a lot of sunshine (w00t)

so - i was hoping that someone could let me know if it is completely safe to put sun cream made for humans on to dogs ears, which factor to use

and if i should worry about anywhere else on her little white body x

miss mabel would be very, very grateful as i have just noticed that the inside of her ears are a little more pink than when we got up this morning, and it is only May.

I put baby sun cream on my boys tummys as they lie in the garden with their legs open and tummy's face upwards... never had any problems.

Miss Mabel is a little stunner... :wub:

I've never had a dog with white ears but once had a horse that suffered bad sunburn on his nose we used to put childrens complete sun block on him and rubbed it in well and he was ok after that. I'm not sure about a puppy though i would give your vet a ring just to make sure :thumbsup:

when i lived in cape town i had a white dog and we put sun block on his ears - he had no pigment underneath one eye and at one point we looked into possibly having him tattooed black as he kept on getting eye infections due to the harsh rays of the sun - it wont be so bad here but you can buy sun block (factor 50) in a lipstick like dispenser from boots to put on mabels ears - i use one for my horses nose which is very pink as he gets sunburn round the sides of his nose every summer.

just buy the highest factor you can find - the sunblock is better coos it doesnt wash off so easily as its oil based.

I use kids suncream Tracy for Spry and Kanes white bits,boots apple factor 50
