MOLLY
Molly is a 4 year old greyhound girl who was not good enough for the race track. She is a lovely black girl, though her coat is quite patchy and coarse at the moment. This will improve significantly with lots of good food and a soft bed, and it wont be too long before she’s a real black beauty.
Molly is a very sweet girl and friendly girl. She can be a bit timid around men, but with a bit of time and patience she soon warmsf up and becomes a lovely affectionate little girl. We feel that once she is in a home environment, getting lots of one-on-one attention she’s going to come on in leaps and bounds. She has sadly not seen much of the world outside of kennels but will love being shown what its like by her new owners.
Molly is good with our other greyhounds in the kennels and enjoys being around them. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds take a bit of socialisation work to realise smaller breeds are in fact dogs as they would never have seen them before.
Dear Molly has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle and get accustomed to the changes. It usually takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.
Like most greyhounds, Molly will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
This little girl is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Molly, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application and information pack. Thanks!
