There was a very big turn out to day at the Mourne Lurcher and Terrier Charity show, held outside Newcastle . Athough the weather was not good, it did not dampen the spirits of all the K9 Community people who came in thier droves to Mourne Show to support this worthy charity, and also to enjoy a brilliant day out at this magnificent show with their families. Apart from the showing and racing, this years newest attraction "The Digging Competition" was a roaring success. It was a sight never seen in this area before. I stood beside Dessie Macken and Peter Morgan digging like moles, covered in muck and clay and moving the earth as they went. As the sweat poured down their brow, somehow I felt a great pride within me, seeing these too men working so hard to achieve a means to an end, and that end being all for charity,as did all the other men who took part. Well done Dessie and Peter, and also Geoff Hutchinson and his mate, and all the other men who gave up a little of their time to take part in this great event. A big congratulations to the winners, a job well done and also first class entertainment.
There was a very large turnout of Whippets,Lurchers, terriers, and strong dogs in the ring. I met Mickey Quinn in the field, and the smile on his face told it all. Mickey won his class with his Canine friend, and received a very nice trophy. Mickeys son Michael also won his with his lurcher. A car load of trophys went home to that house this evenig. Well done Mickey and Michael. Ann Forsythe had a big winner with her winning Whippet Jet, and brought home a very large cup. Ann you have a we treasure there. Also congratulations to Niki Irwin on her big win with her puppy. Leanne Rea done it again with her lovely Whippet also. Well done Leanne you have a real winner there. Liz and Eddie Mc Kinstry also had winners today.Well done Liz and Eddie. And not forgetting the Mc Coy racing. Congratulations with Rio winning the puppy racing, also Bluebells we dog Paris, and Roses dogs . Congratulations on all your winnings. A big congratulations to all the other winners to numorous to mention. You all did everyone proud today. We had a little bit of luck also to day ourselves with our Whippet Dog pup"Reilly" who won his class, and also our Whippets "Silver and " Goldie got 2nd and 3rd. We were delighted with our win.
It was nice to meet up with all our friends today. I had the pleasure of speaking to Mr Albert Tittering today who came to support the show . Albert mingled with everybody at the show, and took time out of his busy life to speak to everybody. It was nice speaking to you to day Albert, and look forward to seeing you at Shanes Castle in June. The judges did a very hard and difficult job with an abundance of efficency,as the standard of dogs there to day right across the board was very high. Well done judges. And Bluebell was there at every winning occassion to capture everybodys moment of glory. What would we do without you. I also seen Billy Harpur clicking away too. There will be some lovely pics from this show. And finally Kieran, what can I say to praise you highly enough, I am lost for words, and to Colette, Joanne, and your excellent committe for organising such a successful, enjoyable show and family day out. Good luck with your Charity and thanks from all of us.
Looking forward to Donemana Show next Sunday. Hope to see you all there.
