my whippet gets off the lead on a daily basis down the beach and he has always chased dogs of any shape or size and tried to grab at their necks or ears, seemingly playfully (is this Coursing?). But the last few days has seen him mouthing towards smaller dogs, who in fairness are usually giving it back so I might be overreacting a little. I was just wondering if I should try to nip it in the bud? If so, how?

And this coursing business, is he likely to get himself into bother? Usually if a dog doesnt want to know it lets him know in no uncertain terms, but i just worry that he'll get into the habit of annoying dogs regularly.

Any tips, advice?

I think once Fletch meets a dog who isn't going to put up with his mouthing and lets him know, he will learn his lesson.

Twiggy is the same. Totally ott around other dogs and I'm suprised she hasn't been nipped.

At this age they just love all dogs but I am sure they will calm down. It is just all so new for them.

My other Whippets love to chase smaller dogs and my heart is in my mouth when I watch because they do get over excited and kindof peck at the back of the smaller dogs neck but they have never hurt one. They just love chasing. Which is one of the good points about having 2 Whippets. They race together and they know no other dog could keep up with them!
