Hi 👋 I’m moving back to the UK in 3 months with my 3 small senior rescue dogs. We have been living in Valencia for many years but the floods were a wake up call for us and we decided it’s time to start a life in the UK. I follow dog news on my apple news and click the stories about dog attacks and thefts so the algorithm sends me more and more. I wondered how bad it really is there … should I be scared to walk the dogs? Are they going to get grabbed?? In Spain many people have Pits and Bullies but it’s all relatively ok, the laws are different here and it seems to flow well. I’m moving back to South Acton on the boarder of Chiswick. I feel a little stupid asking this but it’s on my mind. Fyi I’m an artist and work from home. Thanks 🙏

Welcome to the forum.

Dog snatching from dogs on a walk is quite unusual. Not to say it never happens, but unless your dogs are valuable or you are walking in some very dodgy places, it's not something to let stop you walking them.

Having your dogs neutered can help too, as they are of no use for breeding.

This is the trouble with social media, isn't it? Everything gets magnified. It's bound to vary with area, of course, but I wouldn't worry about it.

That really eases my mind thank you - mine are all neutered, and two are cross breeds, both ratters, one looks like a greying brindle mini pincher and the other is a bull jack and my rescue Chihuahua is the product of an irresponsible person who let the dog family members breed… so he has half a jaw and half a tail. I rescued him when he was 9 months as he had suffered neglect. They are an elderly motley crew and super awesome 😂

Good luck with your move. Please let us know how it all goes.

I was a little south of Valencia last year when the flooding happened, but we had to drive back through the area a few weeks later. It must have been utterly terrifying, I really felt for those poor souls caught in it, or affected by it.

Hi and welcome from me too! Your motley crew sound wonderful😁 any photos??

Thanks everyone you’re very kind :) Yes the floods were terrifying and devastating. It was awful, we feel very lucky to have been in the centre of the city that’s protected by the manmade river and it was frightening to know that people had died only a km away. It made me want to come home again, although this city is utterly magical.

I do have a very rare pic of the three together, the min pin is notoriously difficult to photograph as she’s really squiggly 😂 edit I can’t upload iphone pics at this resolution so I’ll figure it out…

I found a pic from 2020 lockdown when the town I lived in did a photo competition for St George’s Day, which is a really big deal in Catalonia, as well as being their type of Valentine’s day, where the woman receives a rose and a piece of wheat and the man receives a book… we won 3rd prize 😂 they were extremely good to pose like this!
