My daughter is hoping to move home soon. She wants to take her little Cavachon dog to “see” where they’re moving to. The place is only half built and right in the middle of a building site!!! We couldn’t get anywhere near the actual house itself yet but she thinks it’s a good idea! I actually think it’s complete nonsense and will mean absolutely nothing to the dog! It’ll be noisy and distracting and could possibly startle her in some way thereby giving her a bad memory of the place. I’ve moved a few times and on the day I’ve just taken my dogs to their new home once everything else has been removed. As long as they were with me they were fine and settled down quite happily with me once we were there. Any thoughts?

I suppose if there's some good dog walking areas nearby it might be useful to introduce the dog to them, so they will be familiar after the move. But looking round a building site won't help. OTOH, as long as she doesn't let anything 'scary' happen, it probably won't do any harm either. But if the dog would already be sensitive when walking past a building site, it's probably best avoided.

What does your daughter hope to achieve for the cavachon’s benefit with the visit?
