I didn't have an opportunity to take pics on Saturday, but I did photograph almost all the competetors on Sunday (not finals though). I have already added whippets, iggys, magyar agar, galgo (I think there was one?) and greyhounds to my imgaegallery and soon I will add rest of the sighthound breeds. Here is a link to my imagegallery: http://www.manoushwhippets.kuvat.fi/kuvat/...vimaastot+2009/ or http://www.manoushwhippets.kuvat.fi/kuvat/ (Copyright: Susanne Siponmaa 2009)

This was the first LC competion of the year and weather on Sunday's competition was fantastic. Sun was shining and it was of course a bit cold (you can see all the snow there) but at least now wet kinda snow. It was definitely as much fun to watch as it was fun for the dogs to compete! Enjoy!

fantastic pictures, great to see sighthounds in snow, is it soft ground under the snow?

Have to say (I am hardly an expert on the subject but) the snow on top layer is quite crispy and softer inside. Most of the dogs tried to stay on the track and not run on parts which were untouched snow (which was heavier work). I would assume it is quite tough work to be running there as the snow itself can be fairly deep in places.. and then the ground underneath is fairly hard .. maybe not icy in a sense that it is slippery to run on.. but it is frozen field.. It was quite interesting how different breeds "survived" the track as it was the same track whether you were an Irish Wolfhound or little italian.. you had to be in very good shape to run there..

Brilliant photos :D ..... Its great seeing the different breeds running and its very interesting that they all tried to stay on course .... Thanks for sharing
