I am 15 and absolutely adore my dog he is my baby and he is 2now he is a parsons terrier (jack Russell with long legs) and he has randomly started to bark and snap at people on walks and when a person he doesn't know comes into our home he bites them in an aggressive way and I don't know what to do how can I stop this he is absolutely fine with people he knows its just strangers ? Please help!

Oh dear :(

I'm certainly no expert, but has something changed to make your dog feel as though he needs to be on guard and protective?

I would get in touch with a behaviouralist ASAP for help.

In the mean time, be very careful and don't allow your dog near strangers (for your dogs sake as much as yhe strangers).

Yes, I'm afraid there is no real alternative to getting someone who really knows what they are doing in to work out why he's biting so that you can address it, and some very careful muzzling or working out ways to keep your dog from doing this sort of thing until that happens.

I'm afraid that he's not your baby, he's a dog and he's got some problems that could lead to him being seized and put to sleep whether or not you give your permission, until this is addressed and you can be sure that he's no longer a danger to people who he meets.

Hello and Welcome to Dog Forum, I am Anna :)

I think as has been said above, you need some professional help, if he bit a child both you and he would be in big trouble and he would probably be put to sleep, so its best to get it sorted asap.

((hugs))

right young lad, a dog that bites is a no no but to those who say get him to a behaviourist then fine if thats what you think you need, for me jack russels can be snappy and little blighters, but if you think you can manage it get the dog out to car boots walking alongside people, busy streets but always watch and not letting him bite, a muzzle just in case, the very first things i do when i get a young dog out is socialize and in 30yrs never had a biter, best of look and be careful,

Xxx.

You have had some good advice and it is reassuring to see you are taking the mature approach and getting him to a proffesional. In the meantime you need to protect your dog, if he does bite someone then his life is at risk and that simply cannot be an option. You are going to have to muzzle him, especially in public, that way you can avoid the risk until you can get to the root of the problem.

Best of luck to you both and yes he does look like the little guy from the tv ad, does he have a stinky toy rabbit that he takes everywhere with him?

does he show any aggression when he is out with you?
