About 4 months ago my two dogs were playing in the park like they usually do then all of a sudden they ran to a lady and small dog, they bit the dog and when the lady picked it up they bit her by mistake. My dogs were seized 5 nights ago, I feel like it's a bad dream, my dogs have never behaved like that before.

So sorry to hear this. The Dangerous Dogs Act is an awful piece of legislation. It is administered by people who do not understand dogs. Yes it was awful that your dogs should attack another dog but, if your account is accurate, the lady put her hand in the way of danger and got bitten by accident. There are people who will assess your dogs' temperament and decide whether to defend them in a court of law if it comes to that.

Sorry not sure how you go about finding these people. I have seen articles in Dogs Today magazine, they may be able to help? Or you could try searching "Dangerous Dogs Act" as I know there is a group of people fighting it.

Are your dogs of a breed covered by the DDA (Pit Bull types?).

For the future, it is absolutely essential that we socialise our puppies so that they learn to get along with other dogs and people. It is life saving.

Hi gypsysmum2 thank you for your reply, my dogs are two and a half year old staffies. We have seen the lady and her dog two days after the incident. We are just hoping and praying that they behave when they are assessed. They are literally my children.Thank you again for your reply.

Good luck as you go through the process of having your poor dogs assessed to see if they are "dangerous".

Your dogs were playing off-lead and then just ran over and bit the lady's dog out of nowhere? Not sure you can get around the issue of responsibility for various reasons but I'd be interested to know what happened.
