Hi!

I have a 12 month old Whippet & he's my first racing dog. He's very athletic, stands about 21.5 inches & wieghs 43 lbs. He's fearless & he breaks out the box seemingly before the gate is up. The problem is that he fouls other dogs badly. He isnt neutered.

I have no other dogs to train him with. I just dont know what to do for him. :(

At 21.5" and 43lb are you sure he's a whippet???!!!

Seriously though .. it's difficult to advise without seeing the incidents at first hand - and still difficult even then! I would assume that wherever you are racing people will have given you some advice already - and everyone has a unique point of view, but generally speaking perseverance is the key. But not to the point where he is doing his nobbling on a weekly basis ... take him back to running solo for a few weeks, or put him so far back that he can't catch up with his opposition - there is no catch all cure for this. And I don't want to cause undue worry but my own bitch Lisa didn't run clear until 6 years of age! The only dog that she didn't try to nobble was a 34lber - presumably she was wary of him, but its unlikely you can find anything heavier than your own dog!

I have just noticed that this was your first post, in which case you may have posted this in the pedigree section in mistake for the non-peds where dogs are indeed allowed to run at heavier weights. Either way the same problems/solutions apply! Good luck.
