Milly is a rescue we got at 6 weeks old, she is allegedly a German Shepherd cross rottweiler, but isn't very big at 5 months old, so we think she might have been the runt of the litter.

I thought everyone on the forum would like to see some pictures of my baby. :- ) She's now living the lap of luxury!

Oh how beautiful is she? She looks pretty close to being full GSD to me, but then again dog I know that I would swear is a GSD when looking at him was (I know for a fact) born to a wolfhound/greyhound mum and a timberwolf dad. His sister looks like her mother but when she had her own puppies (to a rottie) the babies all came out with full wolf mask patterns. Doggy genetics eh?

If Milly has half of the normal GSD bitch dominance then you'll be in for a rather interesting few months coming up, but just remember the golden rules of GSD ownership:

1 Socialise

2 Train

3 Socialise

4 Stimulate

5 Socialise

6 Exercise

:) :) :)

Many years ago we went to Mrs Norfolks' kennels in Whaddston, where she bred GSD and whippets. She said the whippet pups kept the Shepherds in-line. Is that true? Are GS pups extra naughty? I didn't ask her what she meant as it seemed she expected me to know but at 20 I was very wet behind the doggie ears! BTW we came home with a 15 month old boy named Dasha - Celerity prefix - and he was the start of my love of all things whippet!!

Sadie x PS LOVE your new baby!! :huggles:

GSD pups aren't really naughty as such, but they are super clever and super capable and the major problem comes when they get opinions of their own ;) You need to get the socialising and training in place well before they hit puberty and grow so strong and big that you really need to already have the basics in place.

When she was 6 weeks, she looked like a little rottweiler puppy. Very broad head, and the markings. That was back in August. Now in November and people say they can't see rottweiler in her at all. We thought she'd never properly resemble anything close to a GSD. we have owned GSD's and GSD crosses all our lives, and I'm doing my best to train her. She's very clever. :p I wouldn't say she's a very dominant dog - yet. She's well behaved in the house, and was housetrained in a month, she's excellent with children and old people, but really wary of people when we're on lead. Her hackles are up 60% of the time when we have to walk past someone she's never met before.

& they sound like funny looking little dogs! :p so cute though. Can't resist a good wolffish looking pup!

Thank you! :p

She has big paws to grow into. She won't be as small as you may think.

She's still quite small and was 6 months yesterday. :-/ do you think she'll grow very big? Her being a rescue dog we didnt see her parents, and we aren't sure if she was maybe the runt of the litter :/?

She looks like my friends GSD X STAFFIE , same heart shape on her face and size , and she looked the same as a pup too lol. lovely pup x

I wouldn't pay too much attention to breed identification by pounds or rescues. I've seen a full spaniel listed as a collie cross as it was black with a white chest, and some other interesting guesses too

She's a lovely looking dog :)

No fair! I want one! lol

Lovely dog! :- )
