Hi I was wondering if anyone can advise me please. My springer is 62 days
Pregnant today. She has shown no signs of labour. She has had short periods of restlessness and panting, but shown no further signs. She is still eating and drinking and although she is sleeping alot more she seems relatively happy with herself. This is her first litter. I expected more activity by now so I am starting to panic a little. Is this normal?
Also I have not been taking her temperature so obviously unsure of what it is.

Just sit down, take a deep breath, don't worry it's perfectly normal.
63 days is the gestation period for a pregnancy, some whelp a few days earlier and others may go a couple of days later.
Has she decided where she is going to have her puppies, has she started making a nest?
If mum is reasonably settled herself I wouldn't worry at the moment.

There is no need to take temperature, things will start when they are ready.

Since writing this last night I have had a sleepless night, she has ripped her whelping box bedding to shreds and is now laid on her favourite spot on the landing (its looking likely that is where she is going to have them). She is still in early stages but seems to be coping quite well. Will let you know how we go. Thanks for reply I have been panicking as we didn't seem to be progressing but feel more happy now that things are moving a bit

Good luck, enjoy the experience, it's fantastic:rolleyes:

Yes indeed. Looking forward to photos of the pups!

Good luck!! Getting ready again for cute puppies overload!!:D:D

Update on my springer after an absolutely shattering 36 hrs for us and my girl, her and babies are beautiful and healthy and she's a proud mama to 10 fur babies ❤

Oh wow, congratulations! That's a large litter - is that unusual for springers?

Congrats on your ten little bundles of fun! Can't wait to see some pics!

How lovely! Lots of fun (and hard work) to come.

At least she had them in the right place. One of mine whelped on my lap. Luckily I was able to put a tarpaulin and an old duvet there first.
