who is going to have a go at the 430yds scratch race this year as allways added prize money on this one

You let your head in the shed again linda lol (w00t)

Whilst i understand the reason for lurcher only bit

i think as it is only for fun ---- i think that my mates dog who is not allowed to run with whippets even though registered should be allowed to take part in this ---as he runs ok with the lurchers and has done in previous meetings at West Houghton track ---its not as if it holds any status winning or big added prize money is at stake probably one of the only time he can race other than at our club and a dog is for life ---surely this is only to try and promote our sport and get others into it--as once registered its for life and you can not de-register can you---and if you changed its name you would get all sorts of abuse and shit leveled at you we all know that--

he was disqualified for being naughty he has however run clean at the club but his owners prefer not to enter him in opens just in case as they wouldn,t like to spoil it for others very commendable of the owners should be more like them

If the dog in question has proved he is running straight at his local club there should be no question that he can run at nnwrf opens

It's the BWRA North West open - he was ok to run in this last year as he ran in the distance race.

I'm pretty sure I was the last person to trial with this dog at Wessy so I'm familiar with it's current behaviour.

If a dog is considered unsuitable for racing with whippets because it's naughty I don't see how it's suitable for running with lurchers. Surely the welfare of the lurchers in that race are just as important as that of whippets and lurchers should be shown the same consideration.

good point tony. so its ok to mess up the lurcher races then but not the whippets ?? how maddening is that. if my dog got hurt by a "track renegade" id be bloody furious !!! keep the dog for the straight racing is my opinion.

maybe he is only naughty when hisv challanged.

if he is not allowed to run still bring him along and give him a trial

i would be happy to find somethig to schooll him with then if he runs clean people will be happy to help get him right

Thats a nice offer Gary, others have offered before also

but If I were the owners I wouldn't want the hassle anymore....the dogs bordering on past its best now anyway..sadly he's never really had much of a chance with one thing and another.....

but thats how it goes sometimes eh?

What upsets me is when obvious fighters/tacklers bugger about with your dog in races and it's ignored/not seen--------cos it suits....

i.e the owner is in the right click or has the loudest mouth....etc..

Not ranting about episodes recently...more from the past-but it still p-sses me off.

A running career is not very long is it?

My Coral has had more than his fair share of rogues to contend with.

Stormydog...If you look at KipperFlukes post again you'll see that he states the dog is ok and dandy with lurchers so-there wouldn't/shouldn't be a welfare worry there.

Like i said previously--its not worth the hassle eh?

AFTER A DISCUSSION WITH THE NORTH WEST BWRA COMMITTEE LAST NIGHT IT WAS AGREED THAT THE ADDITIONAL LURCHER RACING IS OPEN TO LURCHERS ONLY

NO REGISTERED RACING DOG WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THIS SECTION

we include the additional racing to encourage more to attend, it would be unfair to expect these dogs to run with the open class racing whippet

it is unfortunate that the dog in question will not be able to race at this event this applies to any dog that has been warned off until it has proved itself straight.

LETS KEEP IT SAFE AND ENJOYABLE
