I have read all the posts on nail clipping but would like recent opinions on what make is the best clipper?

I used a heavy duty human one but was not satisfied of the result on my last attemp : messy nails that I had to file down and not safe.

I HATE guillotine clippers with a passion, on the majority of mine I use a medium duty clipper that I got from the Vet, where the blades cross over like scissors but on a couple of them I use clippers that look like the ones I normally use, handle-wise, but the blades are like human nail clippers, i.e. the meet edge to edge. I can't ackle the human ones!! I always file or dremmel to finish off though on the dogs that are being shown.

Oh you don't want to be a dog when Dessies got the clippers out LOL  (w00t) :- " (w00t)

I prefer the human toe nail clippers on mine

Dessie come round mine and clip my dogs nails please

I on the other hand love my guillotine nail clippers 8) . Some people use them the wrong way round and have trouble, not you Dessie :- "

My dogs queue up every week to have thier nails cut, really they do!! They have a chewy stick after everyone is done.

I start off with human nail clippers when they are two weeks old then when these dont fit move up to the guillotines.

Not one makes any fuss, Frodo gives one pathetic whimper as I pick his paw up but then hes fine when I get cutting.

I think a lot of it is practice, it takes me about 30 secs to do each dog, but then I used to work in the Greyhound kennels so we used to have to do about 30 dogs every week. (w00t)

Which way round do they have to be  i have a pair and can never work it out

i never use clippers

all i do is file the nails down with a rasp once a week , that keeps em nice n neat and no danger of catching the quick .

I use guillotine nail clippers on mine, I know of people who usea dremel sander on their dogs.

Quite probably Karen but I just don't like anything about them, they seem all arse about face to me!!!

Yes thats it, :D hold the clippers the way you would expect to hold them, then before you start tun them around the other way  and that is the right way to get no nail pinching.
