my rottie snapped his claw at the beginning of November, he then developed an infection due to the claw then being open, he had the claw sent off for tests, because when the vet cut the claw as far back as she could, there was no bleeding AT ALL? they said this was very strange.

when the results came back the confirmed that he had a bacterial infection, they gave anti biotics, this infection will not budge, he has been on 3 different lots of anti biotics, each keep the infection at bay, but none are killing it. he is having x rays today to see if the infection is in his bone, because the claw grows but just the outside, no internal, quik or flesh just an empty shell. they are suggesting taking his toe, this t me seems a bit excessive? has any one had this issue or anything like it? im really concerned that they are wanting to take digits.

PLEASE any advice would be GREATLY recieved :sweating: :sweating: :sweating: :sweating: :sweating:

Totally different cause, but a Whippet we had had a bad toe. After trying various ideas without long term success our vet also suggested amputation. It was a shock to us and we talked it over then finally decided to go ahead with it. Once it had healed he was fine able to run and play with no problem.
