Hi all,

My 13 year old dog is currently being treated for a suspected tumor in his nerve (shoulder area) he was in acute pain but this is now being managed with a combination of pain relief and anti inflammatory. At one point his pain was so severe and he could barely walk. Now, after this treatment combination he is much more comfortable, walking quite well and has really turned a corner with his symptoms. However in the last few days he has started excessively licking and sometimes chewing on the affected front leg. There is nothing to see, but he is mainly licking the pad near his elbow. He is not showing the signs of pain that he was before (holding the leg up all the time) Can anyone advise whether this could be medication related? or just a reaction to the nerve issue? Thanks.

I'd recommend giving your vet a call. They would be more likely to know, given that they have been treating him. They are normally happy to answer questions on the phone if it is related to treatment they are giving.
