I have a border collie who is 9 now, she has always been nervous and aggressive mainly with food I have seen many trainers nothing has worked. Does anyone know what I could do?

This is a tricky one, and no doubt some of the methods you will try you may end up with a few nips from your collie!

As she coming into her later years then it may be hard to try and change her but dogs are always happy to learn and become more balanced regardless of age.

When you put her bowl down sit a distance away from her that doesnt maker her nervous and then creep a little closer each time until you are right next to her. this may take days as this wont stop over night.

Once you have done that, try moving your hand to her bowl but not touching the food. Then progress to swirling the food around the bowl, then picking it up and feeding it to her out of your hand then build up to taking the bowl away getting her to sit and wait then putting the bowl back down again. This will take weeks but she may just let you do it.

Also try feeding her out of the palm of your hand, holding the bowl in the other. This should build a stronger bond between you as she knows you are feeding her but not keeping her from her food.

Other than that i'm not entirely sure but I will suggest you watch a specific episode of ceasar milan- it was a labrador who was aggressive with food and she bit him! Anyway its good to watch and maybe get some tips. You will see from the episode that the Labrador does have some serious issues but the way he handles it i think it good. I've used a few tips he does with my lab and they work well. :)

I know ceasar milan has caused some controversy on this site but i think his methods are brilliant.

I've got the link for you :)
