Hi about 4 months ago we got buster neutered. I was just wondering if its possible that he still has a lot of testerone in his body? I ask this because he is really acting as though a bitch is in season i.e pining at the door, dragging down the street and spraying more than he used too. Also when i took him to my grans the other day he would not settle and kept looking at the patio! This is strange especially as we were eating scones with jam and cream at the time :- " (hope none of the other dieters are reading this or i mite be in trouble! (w00t) )

Hi i can only quote on my lot and my experiences when three of my boys were "Done". But i found they calmed down a bit about six months after they were neutered. My vet said about six months and he was right.I believe i,m right in saying any dog that has been neutered, theres no guaranteed that it will calm them down and stop them having urges and wanting to do all the actions.Every dog is different.

Neutering usually starts to have an effect on the dog's behaviour pretty quickly but it can take several months before all the testosterone is gone from his system.

Even some neutered dogs can be quite disturbed by a bitch in heat nearby, particularly if they've mated in the past and know what it's all about!

I got my male shiba inu neutered at 7 years old and it took about 12 months for him to settle down . It's 2 1/2 years on now since he was done and he can still get a bit uptight if there is a bitch nearby in season even although he was never used at stud .
