I got our 8 month old cavalier king Charles spaniel on Thursday (4 days ago). That evening and Friday morning she ate all of her food but since then she has hardly touched her food. I am feeding her Royal canin which is what she was on with the breeder and she seems alert and happy in herself and follows me everywhere and is great sleeping in her crate in the evenings. I'm assuming it is the stress but what can I do? I'm worried. She had a check up at my vets the day after I got her.

Don't panic! She is probably teething. The molars come in about now. If the vet says she is fine then she is. Just her settling in. Be careful not to turn it into a behaviour problem by paying too much attention to her eating habits. To help her, if she is teething, you could soak the food to make it soft for her.

I would just put the food down, without even making eye contact with her, for ten minutes. Pick it up and repeat again at the next mealtime. Dogs soon pick up our feelings and she will pick up your feelings of rejection (we see giving food as giving love) and this will make her worried. Just stay positive and cheerful around mealtimes and she will soon decide to eat.
