:)) Hi everyone. I grew up with terriers and helped my dad with a bit of showing until the teenage hormones arrived and I didn't like my dad telling me what to do (aka giving advice)! After a break doing boring things (like getting a career) I've now got the showing bug again and have the time to devote to a new obsession. I've spent quite a long time going to shows and meeting whippet people as I've always intended to own this breed-I really love them (the whippets, not the show people, although lots of them are very nice). I'm hoping to acquire a show quality bitch pup in the Summer (if all goes to plan, which I realise doesn't always happen). I'd just like to say hello to everyone on this forum and to thank all those I've spoken to in the showing world and continue to take advice from. I realise that being new to showing a particular breed takes a lot of hard work and finding the right puppy is difficult : there has to be trust between the breeder and the new owner and there's more to it than just buying a puppy from a Champion and turning up at your first show . I must say most people I've spoken to have been extremely approachable and encouraging and obviously proud of their dogs. :) I've met the odd misery guts who seems to think they own the whole breed but these have been rare (why go to shows , which are a public place and be irritated if someone talks to you, or put your email address/ tel no on the internet and not want to be contacted?)

Anyway thanks again and I hope to contribute to the forum in future and will keep you posted.......Jonathan

Hi and welcome to K9

Im afraid some exhibitors take this whole showing thing far too seriously , :- " obviously we`d all like to win but its only a small part of owning a whippet ( or 2)
