Congratulations to Lisa Barrenger and Electra (SBIS, BIS Aus / Am Ch Ridgesetter Fly The Flag, ET, SC) on Vesna (Ch Ridgesetter Maid In USA IID) gaining her Aussie Championship title recently. Unless mistaken, I believe this is Electra's 9th champion progeny.

Spot is on 90 points and hopefully, he'll make No. 10 soon and there's another girl with points so maybe 11 champion progeny before the end of the year. A wonderful achievement and a great legacy.

I appreciate that dogs can produce many champions, but does anyone know the highest number of champion progeny from a bitch?

Cheers

Good news Toni and a great effort, Well Done to Lisa and Electra on another Ch in Vesna

A photo of Lisa and Electra at the Vic Whippet Show 2007 after judging, a true whippet shot, love it.

Sorry for the late acknowledgements and my thank yous. :D Been a bit busy with an ill mum. work, 4 girls in season and some very interested boys.

Love the shot of Electra in Lisa's lap but that is not the Electra I'm used to. She's not called wild and wicked for nothing. Lisa told me Electra went BOB last Saturday in Sydney which is amazing as those who know her well, heard that she took herself off kangaroo hunting 6 weeks ago and stupidly decided to take the roo on in the dam. Luckily, she's alive but she underwent two and a half hours of surgery and 80 stitches! (w00t)

I know Lisa thinks she's a tough old girl, but my heart is always in my throat when I hear of her escapades. (For K9ers not familiar with Oz, Lisa lives on 650 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of state forest and with the drought, the roos come up to the house yard to graze and Electra doesn't take kindly to them.) Fingers crossed she'll settle down in her mature years and enjoy lying in front of the fire rather than hunting.

Cheers

I would just like to thank Toni for posting about Vesna & her wicked wicked mother Electra. We are very proud of both of them, and of course all Electra's champion kids. And yes Vesna is number 9, Spot could be number 10 and Jane Doe in the USA just needs majors to finish which would be number 11. One of the special things about her kids is that she has produced champions in her three litters to date - for Isilwane, Shamasan & Ridgesetter Kennels

Grandma Toni was right about Electra winning BOB in Sydney on the weekend - against well respected competition, just 5 weeks and 4 days after her exchange with the kangaroo - I said to people on the weekend that you don't have to like the bitch but you certainly have to respect her because she definitely has a cast iron constitution. I can tell you that just 30 minutes after surgery she refused to be carried from the car to the house - insisted on walking, 20 minutes after that she ate a full dinner before curling up and going to sleep and the next day she had the 4 young Ridgebacks lined up at the door of the feed shed all in no doubt as to who had ownership rights of said shed!!!!!!

And on the day she ran the kangaroo into the dam and for whatever reason decided to follow it in to the water (something she's never done before) her daughter Zest (Ch Isilwane Flag Bearer ET) swam in, barking all the way and promptly grabbed the kangaroo's EAR and bit it.

And thank you Griff for posting the photo, and cropping out the teary owner after Electra had won a big Open Bitch class at the Victorian Specialty last year (her son was RUBISS). She backed it up with Reserve Challenge Bitch at Royal Melbourne Show 2 days later and in March this year went Bitch Challenge at Sydney Royal Easter Show - after her 7th birthday.

The Kennel Maid at Isilwane (aka Michael) now calls her "Flower the Dominant Female" after watching Meerkat Manor on Discovery - and let me say there are some definite similarities.

We are currently in deep thought about whether or not she will have one more litter and to whom.

Congrats Lisa and Toni on Electra's great work as a mum. Glad to hear that she has come through her ordeal well- what a tough bugger. I know that John and Ang's Abby has quite a few ch progeny from her 2 litters but not exactly sure how many.

Great pic

 CONGRATULATIONS Lisa, Toni & of course the main star ELECTRA on your contributions to the whippet world. As I have said to you before Lisa, the wicked whippet is the standard, the guage to aspire to.

Over the past 10 days I had my mother hospitalised indefinately and I was rushed to hospital on Wednesday by ambulance so have only just caught this thread.

Many congratulations on the outstanding success of Electra's progeny.

Tell her not to get her ambitions mixed up with her capabilities when taking on quarry!!! One of my late whippets took on a goose in the middle of a dam and brought it to the bank in a deceased state, sometimes whippets think they are gundogs (w00t)

Noleen thank you for your kind words about The Wicked Whippet :huggles: . As last weekend proved life is never boring when you are around Electra - she managed to get into some food in the car on Sunday morning (out of my sight in the back of the car) so when we got to the show she looked decidedly rotund. Of course she was roused on fairly severely - she then held her counsel until we went into the ring for Open Bitch class under John Thompson, where she decided to give us all a lesson in how she had NO idea how to stand on the table, at one stage both the judge and I were trying to place all four legs at once!!!!!!! When I put her on the ground to do her triangle she looked up at me with the wickedest look and promptly went "oh run, I KNOW how to do that!!!!!!"

I remember showing her for only the third time as a baby and she didn't stand still once - as I walked out of the ring telling her she was a little bitch Molly turned around and said "Lisa, don't you know they invented the word for the whippet girls!" Now with 4 girls in residence at Isilwane, the boy Whippets (and Ridgebacks) and I totally agree.

I hope that you are on the mend and that things are going ok for your Mum :flowers: .

She sounds like a little firecracker.

It isn't much fun trying to catch a whippet that slips a lead and chases rabbits in the You Yangs national park here in Vic. I don't have my school girl figure anymore :- " so it takes ages to get my bitch when she is "on the chase". She got a nice permanent bump on her nose now trying to get into the rabbit burrow.

 Big news yesterday from the Hound Club of NSW Championship Show, where Electra's son Spot became Ch Ridgesetter Made In USA (IID), congratulations to Toni and John. Judge was Mr DJ Hyman (USA). I wasn't there so I can fill in a lot of details other than Spot got the dog points.

This makes up Champion Number 10 for the Wicked Whippet & Australian Champion Number 3 for dad Dino (DC Summit Autumn Gabardine Martin CD SC).

And in other news Electra was ultrasounded this morning and has possibly 7 babies cooking in what will be her last litter. And the possible proud "fathers"????? Her grandson Isilwane Ice Age (sired by Davina Planned Precision - Rothbury/Martinique bloodlines & going back to Woodbrooks on his mothers side) and her son RUBISS Ch Isilwane Jolly Roger (sired by Woodbrooks Wizard of Oz (Imp Fin)). This was not an accidental dual mating but planned and after watching the litter in the US grow up I'm looking forward to seeing what we get and from whom.

Great News Lisa, Good Luck with the litter and I'll be keen to see what happens and who the daddy will be of which puppies.

Congratulations Vesna - but I think mum Electra has kinda highjacked your thread!

Well done to Electra for her recent win after such a close call and look forward to seeing the pups.

Well done on the latest champion spot- and best of luck with the litter...
