Hi all.
Me and partner are about to get a dog, which we are getting from a friend as she can no longer care for her or give her the time she needs. We've met her and taken her out she is very good at staying near by on walks, comes to call, waits, sits, paws all of that kinda thing.
She is 1year old Staffy crossed with Whippet. She always wants to please but she does get extremely excited when people come into the home jumping up on people, chairs, sofas and running around madly. She has been left at her current home for long hours and only having two walks a day etc could this be due to excessive energy from this? And needing to get use to it?
How can we help her to learn to be calmer in these situations?
We also plan on changing on her name, but something that sounds similar so we hope this will be ok as well.
At her current house she has been a little destructive but she is left from 9-5 each day, so considering that it's understandable. When she is left when we get her we plan for leave toys to work her brain and keep her entertained (hopefully find somewhere to buy these soon)
Any help or advice would be great, first dog so a new comer!!
Thanks
Brett and Philippa.
