I have just received a warning from one of my friends- please take note!

A woman was walking her dog when a couple pulled up next to her in a car. They asked her where she had got her dog from as it looked just like one they had lost. As the dog was tattoed and bought as a puppy from a breeder, she new it couldn't be theirs. They became quite forceful, insisting that it was their dog. She realised that they were probably trying to get her to go home so that they would know where she lived. She went into the nearest shop, rang the police and gave them the reg of the car. The police arrived (WOW) and said that they knew the reg of the car, it was one being used by travellers.

I think she had a near escape. If someone tries this ploy on you, do the same as this lady and head for the nearest shop, it could save your dog from being stolen. Whatever you do, don't lead them back to your home!!

bit more tactful than the one that tried to steal a Staffie near us, the man was held at knife point and dog demanded, I didnt get the whole of the story but i heard the would be thief left very quickly. Thanks for posting this jools dog theft is coming more and more common and awareness is the best way to keep everyone on guard.
