It might be a good idea as is done on some other sites that a new member should have their posts moderated until they have posted at least five times.

This will not only stop the porn merchants but also stop attacks on certain members by out and out cowards who hide behind another name.

Bye Bye Miss Americanpie you bit of filth

yes good idea...although 5 posts wouldn't be enough with the amount of dual personalities on k9...they would just play the games for a few posts then kick off again with their poison

Good idea ... but I agree it needs to be more than 5 posts. I've recommended K9 to a couple of people recently only to have them ask me what kind of online company I'm keeping when they have read some of the posts here. To be honest it's been embarassing.

Do you mean the bickering ? that sometimes happens . Or something else?

I think Annie means the personal attacks which happen on here sometimes. Having been on the receiving end of some, I understand, it can be rough on here.

The trouble is the written word is not like the spoken word which is face to face. People can post what they like, sometimes vindictively.

Well a post involving hirsuit spherical objects comes to mind :b It has thankfully since been removed. But the bickering doesn't help either.

beautifully put annie!

Having loved k9, I now would not recommend it to anyone sadly. It was an imformative and fun place to be once...

I recommended this forum to the bloke from eon that came round to read the meter. He saw my dogs and commented that he and his family had got a whippet last christmas . Also recommended this forum to an in law that is just about to get a whippet . On the whole we think this forum is great ,with good pics and the odd bicker :)

there's nothing that annoys a spiteful person more than being IGNORED so I'd suggest to anyone they should choose to click the button that lets you ignore a certain member, then they can't get their jollies off on inciting others

Might have been if I'd spelled hirsute correctly :b

I don't think anyone is necessarily disagreeing with you, more that those of us who have been members for some years (and compared with some I'm a relative newby) are saddened by how much less friendly the forum is than it used to be. There always was a provocative element but there are days now when it seems to be taking over :(

I love k9.iI agree with the fact that being ignored for someone trying to incite trouble,is the best way.I do think that k9 can sometimes be a little too pc,and as soon as a debate rears its head, the post gets removed quickly.I think its important to have a certain degree of free speech for a forum to stay fresh.

I have met some great folk on here, and have taken on 3 more dogs through contacts made on k9,gone are the days of sensible dog ownership(only having two)lol. Its like an addiction, got to check new posts every day,and keep in touch with my mates now that the shows have come to an end.

I too, am a big fan of K9, however I have noticed in the last month or so a big influx of new members, who have tried to cause trouble & wind people up, normally going completely off topic. It is also very apparent that some of these new members have joined just to sell their puppies. At the moment it seems that the goodhearted banter has disappeared & I do hope that this is temporary. I agree with other posters that new members should be moderated. I must comment though on a particular post that was in the Lurcher section, & removed, I assume because of the disgusting language used, & yet this person is still member, even he thought he was going to be banned !! I do hope that the moderators take note of this thread....Thanks

Agree 100% newmembers to intrduce themselves where they live ie edinburgh Belfast etc what intreststhey have dog types they have prehaps a wee picture of thier dog -dogs etc to me this is only good maners

 must have been done when I was on here posting thank you who ever did it not nice to see

This would be a very good idea.

I tried pm's to 3 different moderators who were online at the time & reporting for over 2 hours for one porn thread from 12:15 today & had to go to work in the end, so gave up.

Yes, good idea

Recently there has been a dearth of new members joining to post complete rubbish on ancient threads and on current threads too - these members mostly claim to be from USA but some claim to be from other countries too.

Initial postings from all new member should be monitored to avoid postings such as the porn today and to save us time reporting them!!

I am a member of the GSD forum too and new members are not allowed to post pictures until they have made 20 normal text posts first ........ might be an idea on here too? It would prevent the porn pictures!

that stuff that was posted stayed on for over 2 hours

why do they continue to post on here....makes my blood boil
