New Posters Should Be Moderated

; Very happy to have found another forum. I am currently a member of Whippet World...yes, I am from the USA. After having read about the porn posting, I hope you check me out with WW. I am the proud owner of Vincetveritas Bluenose, a pretty fast Whippet racer. His call name is Schooner...his breeder was Jim Allison, up in Canada. Please feel free to check us out with any of the sanctioned organizations here in the USA.....NOTRA, WRA, or NAWRA. Glad to be a part of another Whippet Community....or at least hoping to be part of this forum. By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all who read this post.

Hallo and a very warm welcome to K9 :D

Love the name Schooner for your boy - sounds like he goes at a rate of knots!!

Look forward to hearing all about his successses and seeing more pictures of him ....... the best place for you to post topics would be General Dicussion - Whippets

A very happy New Year to you!

Has anyone thought it could be bots? Some forums have had this problem in recent times. Matthew Heckler for example was found to be a bot on another forum i am a member of.

That makes sense to me

So how can K9 be protected from these bots?

Not really sure how to do anything about it, maybe someone else will know more about them.

I'm quite sure that a lot of the spurious posts have been spam bots rather than 'real' people. It's a nightmare for all forums to control, but K9 does seem to have been hit particularly hard recently.

Some other forums I visit only give access to an 'introduce yourself' section initially, and you have to post there and then be approved by the mods before you can post in any other sections. Perhaps something like that would help?

On another forum I belong to, you can't just join straight away; you have to wait and respond to an email from a moderator. When they are satisfied you are a real person they activate your membership; this is done to weed out bots and seems to work fairly well.

wot is a bot? although im a moderator im only a CLUB mod so unfortunaltly cant delete posts and i have been asked on a few occasions. ive reported a number of these silly posts that r being made in the club sections which make no sense although thankfullu they r not porn.
