Following a suggestion on the forums Matt and I have decided to stage a Veteran Lurcher Class at the 24th All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships to be staged at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle on the 26th June.

This will be for dogs or bitches over eight years of age on the day so lets see you giving some of the famous old dogs a day out. If it is successful we will also add this to our classes for Birr.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Good call it will good to see some of the oldies .I'd say some of the vertans will getting treated to a shampooing and a good brushing after the oweners hearing this class is on.

A brilliant idea Albert. Our vetern Lurcher " Jessie" won the vetern class at Florencecourt this year. As Sammy says the shampoo will be out in abundance before Shanes Castle to give the old lady another makeover. Really looking forward to it.

Margaret,

Not my idea but one that came from the forum which I thought was a good one. Not only does it bring back memories for the owners but a great chance for newcomers to see great old show or racing dogs and to discuss breeding - even perhaps help clear up a few arguments about the breeding of some of our faster dogs!
