OK as it says in the title of this thread 'the good points and the bad', so now onto the bad

im now talking about friday morning racing, the few of us that was camping was concerned that the racing was going to be held in the same field as camping, this field was a good size BUT when the weather was bad there had been horse running all over it and along with the rabbits digging there was rutts and holes all over the place and was now solid with the dry weather, so on the thursday night while the horse racing was taking place i asked the nl&rc where the racing was going to be, there reply was a lovely bit of ground that was the overflow standing area for the horsey lot when it was getting full (so you can imagine how nice it looked) but they had concerns as it was in the next field to the camping and showing field and thought people wouldnt have wanted to walk through a gateway into the racing field, so was thinking of holding the racing in our camping field. my reply along with a couple more was 'if thats the case im sorry but my dogs wont be racing'

we woke up in the morning to find that the fence and coursing track had been set up in the camping field already and also some racing folk that had turned up also saying that they wasnt racing there dogs, so we all stood back and watched a handfull of dogs course, and afew races of unders and overs then packed up and drove home,

now people can say im having a dig or what ever but i think these little shows need all the help and support they can get (and i was there supporting them) and when they are given a nearly perfect patch of ground to race on and decide to do it on ground that could very easily injury a dog it is beyond me, dont forget i had a fantastic night thursday, it was very well organised and ran, NOT 1 FAULT, but the next day was a total U turn when it didnt need to be, just out of our little group that was there, we didnt race 16 dogs because of the ground, a shame i think

the showing is still going on so im sure someone will pop on and update on that later

 same old nl&rc then money before dogs

You obviously put your dogs first

We were not happy at all.Set the alarm for 6 to go and race our dogs with the NL&RC,along with a few of our friends.

The ground was diabolical, deep holes, with not a thought for the welfare of our dogs.We asked if the racing could be moved, the ground where the rings had been set up was 100% better than where the tracks had been set out.As Mark says,we l decided to put our dogs welfare first and not race.

It sounded a perfect set up the night before,so what went wrong??

Yes, it was such a shame, as we were looking forward to racing our dogs too, but the ground was far from suitable. The only thing we did was hurdle Storm, as that was over a very short distance and on flat ground. Pleased to say my little "monster dog" won :D

Aww, well done Smoke, our Storm won the hurdles. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures as my camera is in for repair at the minute. Very nice trophies though ;)
