I want to add my congratulations to all winners in just one thread, it is a bit unfair to recognize only some on k9…

Bend Championship day was AWESOME, a massive well done to Highgate Staff & ALL of the NNWRF committee.

The fabulous day couldn’t have gone any smoother. The attendance and atmosphere probably the best I have seen, which a huge credit to all who worked so hard for us all throughout the day! Lyndon on the mic created a great atmosphere with bubbly commentary on each and every one of the races.

It was great to see a comeback from Sween & Soot a Root, two great challengers from over the border, both love the longer distance on the sand and didn’t let their owners down.

Nch and now NVCh Notorious had a solo in the l/w class, as did NVCh Stella Lady in the h/w class, but supreme of the day went to Joyce’s awesome and aptly named ‘Veteran Ch of Ch’s Showman’ who did it in his usual great style!!!

The sports up and coming youngsters impressed immensely, and we saw first Nch bend titles for Kath’s very exciting youngster Nch Who Knows, who after a tragic start to his career showed us what he is made of, very exciting to watch and is improving each month.

Rob & Sally’s beautiful girl Ch of Ch’s Stay Out showed she had another string to her talented bow, showing great skill to take her first bend title after falling out of the boxes….

Sandra’s Nch Thunderstruck seems to improve with every run, also Jeannine’s Nch Emrys who added another title in only a few months, proving great versatility on grass and sand…this after only a handful of races around Thornton stadium, and this his first at Highgate, a lot more from both these two contenders from over the border!

Andy & Louise’s Nch Twist & Pulse clocked a very good time and looked handy for the run off.

Nch Ride a White Swan took her title for a very proud Tam & Shelly, she also ran well in the run off, she too will improve as she matures.

Andy’s bitch Nch What’s the Story added to her Rch title won in August in style, Graham’s Nch Secret’s Wish who loves the bends looked very handy once again as did Nch Lou’s Pride.

Kath & Dennis added another title for Nch Run once More, as did Nch Charlie Pig for Andrew in an exciting battle, as did Paul & Maureen’s Nch Peak Plus who came back to form when it mattered, Nch Wor Black added another for Dan & Gary Gorton, Maurice sadly had a solo run with Vet Scr Ch Quicksilver as did the near 9yr old Hellbent who cruised round to add to his impressive tally for Ricky & Krystal with Vet Scr Ch of Ch’s Ruby Murray taking top spoils impressively for a delighted Chris & Julie.

Not gaining a title but worth a very special mention are; Jeannie & Dave Warren’s Marble, who gave Dramatize a fantastic run, also Dave & Lynne’s She’s a Flyer who ran her heart out, Cistina’s Little B & Comin Through, just to mention a few from a long list…..

Favorites coming back from injury were Pat & John’s Nch Tinkersmill and Keith’s Nch Anagram with the former putting in a fantastic performance as r-up Ch of Ch’s.

Love Lockdown also came back after an 8 month layoff with a big vengeance, this big boy showed that he may have missed a chunk of 2011, but he was still a massive force to be reckoned with, this after devoted care and attention from number 1 adoring fans; Pauline, Vicky, Nick & Amanda’s, oh yes….he was back on blistering form and it was great to see!

We sad a sad farewell to Tina & Rob’s Sup Rch/Ch of Ch’s Southern Touch who retired from racing today, but went out in superb style…it is very sad we won’t see this very game little brindle bitch grace a track again, but she has left us with so many memorable performances, thank you for that!!!

Vicky & Mark’s bunch never let them down, little Beside the Point never gives in and put a very brave performance in the run off, Nch What’s the Rush usually runs in the 36lb scratch, but showed she is a massive future contender for many bigger things in 2012. Maid your Point made a brave effort to add to his 14th title, and Just Paddy r-up to the fantastic Love Lockdown.

Mick & Gloria’s great athlete Classic Rock gave a breathtaking performance trying to retain the Ch of Ch’s won last year, only to be denied narrowly on the line for top spoils once again!

All who watched the racing at Highgate, had to be more than pleased after paying their £3.50 admission money, great value with over 4 hours of top class performances, witnessing racing of the highest caliber!!

A massive thank you to the very proud owners of dogs who gave awesome performances…

Tina with Ch of Ch’s Southern Touch, Erica & Geoff with Ch of Ch’s Dramatize, Joyce and Vet Ch of Ch’s Showman, Chris & Julie with Scr Vet Ch of Ch’s Ruby Murray & finally Nick with Scr Ch of Ch’s Love Lockdown who all have to be the happiest owners in the country right now….all now etched in the sports history books forever.

Can winning owners please email (christinecornish@hotmail.com) details (breeding/training/feeding/age/bend experience) of their respective dogs, to add to my forthcoming write up, thank you!

An in depth write up on all these dogs who raced at the Championships will appear in the December issue of Whippet News.

Loved piglet’s apt comment…

‘If Carlsberg did whippet racing, it probably would have been yesterday because it was a big credit to everyone involved’…

Finally, A MASSIVE WELL DONE TO ASTON, Sup Rch in March and now Ch of Ch’s, a big well done to Erica & Geoff, a fantastic year for this 2 year old who is another who just improves with every run, you made us very proud!

Thanks for doing your race by race report Chris  don't envy you the task of all that typing  look forward to reading it (by the way the l/w vet was N.V.CH. MORPHIOUS not Notorious )

Well done everyone that raced yesterday 115 top clas dogs on the card and thanks to everyone that attended to make the day what it was FANTASTIC, the stadium was buzzing from start to finish, there were a few dogs who could'nt make it due to injuries and some with Kennel cough that is around at present, shame you missed out but thanks for being responsible and staying away

Thanks to the HIGHGATE team what a great bunch they are nothing is too much trouble for them when it comes to the whippet racers allways keen to better what we allready have and eager to do something for the whippet folk at our next meeting and make it a fun day more about that later.

Thanks and well done to the rest of our committee for all your hard work over the year just one more event to go then you can relax for a few weeks

*who said whippet racing was going downhill if yesterday was anything to go by I'd say its on its way back up *
