we have decided to put the EASTER WEEKEND CLASSIC event on hold this year due to easter falling so early instead David and James of HIGHGATE GREYHOUND STADIUM have offered to sponsor an open in memory of their mum they will put on one of those beautiful big crystal trophies (we were all admiring when at the xmas cracker event ) and there will be at least £500 added prize money it will be held on Saturday afternoon 22nd March this will be an annual event however not normally run at easter

Lurchers will also be invited as additional racing as they play a big part in the Highgate WRC

ON BEHALF OF THE NNWRF MEMBERS WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIGHGATE FOR THEIR GENEROSITY

 must say highgate do a great job of catering for all us whippet racers good of them

We are hoping to get a good turn out for this one ... plenty of extra payout plus loads of raffle (anyone wants to donate any) and some lovely glass ware for the winners

At least we have a open on at easter .... shame its so early in the years i always like the camping weekends

theres a straight open on @ old hall on the monday isnt there? hope u get a good turn out im sure u will. easter is very early the skool where i work r only having good fri and easter mon off then they r having 2 weeks off 2 weeks later.

Will do an advert for it when i get told the classes etc

lets try and do something different on this one as all our golden jacket events are 4 classes yd/lb

taking into account there has been some great racing when Highgate club has run the 1/2yd /lb

suggestion

--------------

6 classes all in yd/lb - L/W - M/W - H/W and 3 dog sup final 2ft/lb

vets 3 classes 2ft/lb - 2ft/yr

yearlings 3 classes 2ft/lb

40 - 48 -and no limit scr

vet / yearling scr 40 - 48 - no limit ( if enough entries)

WE ARE HAVING A COMMITTEE MEETING ON 26th JAN SO IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS ON THIS AND THE DEVON OPEN THEN WE CAN TRY AND SORT SOMETHING OUT THAT SUITS MOST OF YOU WE KNOW WE CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE ALSO IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE US TO LOOK AT PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE

I would like to leave bend racing at 1 yard a pound, i think the distance always favors the middle / heavier dogs finals

All in sounds like a really good idea for a change, how about 1st and 2nd going from heats and class finals so the run-offs are all four dog races  . I assume you are thinking something along the lines of 19,22,25,28,31,35 followed by 22,28,35 run-offs and 3 dog supreme.

Might be nice to have a few weight group changes. Vets and Yearlings are nearly always 21,28,35. How about doing 25,35 with 2 going through from heats and class finals making four dog supreme finals. (This might help with the h/w yearings as they have another dog from their own group in the final instead of chasing 14 yards or more off the back alone).

A change for the scratch too allowing small No Limit dogs and large No Limit dogs to be split up a little bit. 36-44lb and 45lb+ or 36-42lb and 43lb+. I don't know if anyone has a sample of scratch racing on the bends and can give an example of the weights of dogs competing to allow the Fed to have a go at a change of weight groups. If it's 2 weight groups you could again put 1st and 2nd through heats and have 4 dog class finals as well as a 4 dog supreme final. :sweating:

P.S Happy New Year everyone :huggles: .

why not make the yearling classes the same as the adults? i always wonder why they r so different. i think just the 3 weight classes for yearlings puts some people off i know it used to put me off when the adults were say 20/25/30/35 then the yearlings were 23/28/35 why so different? its not coz theres no yearlings about coz theres normally loads.
