just in the process of sorting things out ie; format etc; for the North West bend open for 2005 I,m looking to put a middle distance on for the no limit dogs let me know your views

the greyhounds run over 3 distances depending on the track e.g 260mts, 380mts, 520mts . the whippets run the sprint 260mts I was suggesting the middle distance 380mts for the no limit scratch [only]

i dont think it would work, unless the dogs only had to run once, who would want to run their dogs 2 or 3 times over 380mtrs :( in one day.

:D got to agree with neil on that one if only a straight final then no problem but 2 runs is to mutch, IMO

p.s. are you doing a different format for the adults instead of the same old upto 20,25,30,35.--- 20,24,28,32. :b  ;)

anyone ever being to a hare coursing meeting. the finalists sometimes run 3 hares in one meeting. and the amount of running they do is more than 2 times round a full greyhound stadium. there first course often exeeds this distance. THE POINT I AM GETTING AT IS WHAT MAKES OUR DOGS ANY MORE UNCAPABLE.?

if a 20lb dog can go round the 260 sprint as many as 4 times in a day then i think the middle distance would be no problem at all for the no limit dogs if there is enough interest and there was to be 2 runs they would hav the 1st run at the beginning and the run off would be the last race of the day . THIS DISTANCE RACE IF IT TAKES PLACE IS BENG SPONSORED WITH ADDED PRIZE MONEY BY WESTHOUGHTON STADIUM it will only be open to no limit dogs.....as for the rest of the racing yes it will be a different format not decided what yet anyone with any good suggestions feel free to post

i think it,s a great idea . i think there would be plenty of people intrested i no three dogs that would enter i don,t agree that dogs would only run if it was a straight final look at anths bitch he,s been running refuse to bend over 420mts round easington before the champs and it did her no arm [sorry anth ch ch refuse to bend]i think by varying the distances or even shorten the distance ex 100yrd dashes or even 20yrd dashes would bring agreat variety to our sport.

newton aycliffe are doing this in there handicaps over the xmass period, in the seventys there was dashes galore at opens and there was always plenty of entry,s so why not run over longer i think it,s a great idea well done good luck with it
