hi all,i have never posted in non-ped forum before, but would love to know more about your sport.what is the maximum weights of the dogs?is there a maximum height to the shoulder?i dabble in lurcher racing just for fun and to keep my dogs fit during the summer months and am aware of miss tori and john humphries china etc.if these dogs are so successful in under23 straight lurcher racing could they not try nonped?is nonped ran out of traps on a straight track or bends?too many questions i know and i appreciate any answers given.hope some of you can help me out, many thanks chris.

No maximum Height or Weight rules but the dogs do run out of traps so obviously it helps if they can fit in them.

The dogs must be whippet like in appearance and be registered with the relevant organisations in order to run at events hosted by them, them being the BWRA and the NNWRF. We run bends (autumn/ winter) and straights (spring / summer)

China is, I believe being registered for non-ped racing, I'm sure John will tell you more if you collar him.

wow, thanks for that quick response!i guess its just like promotion to premier league then.i assume dogs are raced in size and weight classes then and could possibly be 7/8 greyhound and still be able to race whippets! :- "

hi there yes dogs r raced in weight classes in the bwra the range is from 16lb to 32lb in either yards for pounds/ 2ft per pound or half a yard per pound. ie if a dog is 4lb lighter than another one it will say get 4 yards start in a yds for pounds race. bwra have 36lb scratch 40lb scratch and no limit scratch.

the n.n.w.r.f. classes range from 15lb to 35lb same as above yds per 1lb etc and there scratch classes are now 40lb then 41 to 48lb then no limit scratch.

straight racing is normally from about the end of march to october with maybe an odd one in between. bend racing is normally from october to march with maybe an odd one inbetween.

straight racing distances r something like this 150yds, 160yds, 165yds, 170yds, 175yds and possibly 200yds i dont think theres any races on the straights over 200yds. not sure of the distances on the bends.

dogs wear muzzles and racing jackets when racing too. hope this is of some help as well
