Updated news, from Agilitynet
"Note to all Norfolk peeps, we are being warned not to take our dogs to the beach for the foreseeable future. The water is contaminated with something and dogs are dying by drinking the water and eating contaminated star fish. It is a horrendous death. They start vomiting copiously and then just die. A friend of mine has just told me that one of her friend's dogs started vomiting and she got it into the car to take it to the vet and when she arrived at the vets the dog was already dead. Beaches to specifically avoid which have had several deaths in the last few days are Cley and Holkham apparently, though its probably advisable to avoid all of them for the time being".

From what I have seen there may be two issues around that area - palm oil, and some sort of toxin in the washed up fish, shellfish and/or starfish which causes a much faster decline. :(

There are fresh reports of dogs becoming fatally ill after consuming contaminated starfish. Also reports of solidified palm oil at various places in the south. Please be careful on the beach people.

Is this just in Norfolk Joanne ? Have seen the tv footage of thousands of starfish, lobsters, crabs etc washed up on the beaches due to the very cold weather we have had, really quite sad watching it :( It’s really worrying for us dog owners as they warn you about the dangers of Alabama rot in numerous areas of the Uk and now our beautiful beaches aren’t safe.

I don't know. The warning I saw was for that area but I don't think I would take any chances anywhere.
