after having a severe thunderstorm @ 4pm today and flash floods everywhere in and around newcastle i thought id just post on here for us lot so say we r ok and wot yr experience of it was today.

mine, well i just got to work and sat down to have a drink b4 i started only for the foreign lass to shriek at me carole, CAROLE the water, when i looked the water was shooting up thru a drain in the canteen causing a flood, then lots of people came in shrieking for buckets and bushes ( we dont have brushes just mops) 4 cleaners did not know where to go until someone screamed @ us to quick get the water away from the elecrtics, when we went thru there was a huge machine with 100s of wires so we had to divert water away from it till about 6 men came and lifted it onto a pallet so one catastrophe over. then the water started coming in @ the front door sandbags were put there. dont forget the canteen is still flooded. (i only work 2hrs 15 mins) the warehours, showroom and corridoor all flooded and rain still lashin dowen heavy. we did our best and it did ease.

i left work @ 6.30pm it normally takes me 10 mins to get home, tonite it took 2hrs 15 mins. i cudnt go the way i norm go as the coast rd shut both dierctions, ive drove thru 3 floods and went round the world to get home its 3 miles the normal way i bet i did about 23 miles to get home tonight. main thing is i got home ok, dogs were ok and house ans garden were ok thank god. ive mever seen rain like it in this country annoying thing is its still boling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

(w00t) Here in Swadlincote, we had thunder & lightening for well over 3 hours. It was quite frightening at times and the rain was horrendous. Then, before I knew it, my front garden had been transformed into a pond and my path under inches of water. The young girl next door, with whom I share the path was struggling with 3 bags of shopping, an 18 month old under one arm and her 4 year old paddling on in front. To say she looked like a drowned rat is an understatement and I really felt for her! As of 6 o'clock tonight, there are at least 3 villages that have large areas that are flooded and roads that are impassable. I find this extraordinary, when, you realise that we are the highest point in South Derbyshire! However, I know that a lot of people are in a terrible state with this weather and Carole is right, when she says that after all that rain etc., it's still very humid and sticky! Wierd! (w00t)

choice of footwear for any geordie lasses braving the toon tonight lol (took off fb again)

We had all that weather too, plus giant (and I mean giant hailstones)...they have damaged our cars with small dints in the roof and bonnet, with small ruts in garden where they landed on the grass, they also broke the glass in next doors greenhouse...

they were about 3-4 inches wide.....we had minor flooding as well but only down the road thankfully for a short time!

Its since the drought was mentioned......we have had non-stop rain since!

Paul doesn't know where the freezer is Geoff, so it can't have been him!

I have a feeling the insurance company will say it was God (and that isn't Paul either) xxxxx
