Our bitch, Broadacres Sobbin, was born in June 2008 but still has not had a season. Her litter sister has now had her second season. She is very healthy, eats well, and plays with her kennel mate. Her pedigree appears in: www.thewhippetarchives.net/ Has anyone has or had a whippet bitch in similar conditions? Advice welcome. Thanking all. Netheredge

We have a couple of whippet bitches (totally different breeding) who did not have their first seasons until they were 2 years old. Both have since had regular 6 monthly seasons. ;)

My Peanut had her first season at 2 years one month / all her sisters were much earlier , It didnt bother me one bit , who knows when she will have her next one  . its 6 months nearly already . Her mum is usually 10..11 months

I had a Martinsell bitch who had her first season at 28 months!!!!!!!!

I also had a bitch that had first season at 2.5 years. But once she started she came every 9 months. Some just take their time. Her mum and sister were all the normal starting at 14 or 15 months.

My bitch Amber had her first season at nearly 16 months she is now 2 years and 4 months and has still not had her second season. It is exactly 12 months since she has been in season. Her litter sister has had 4 seasons already. Her mother and half sister are every 6 months. My ex racing greyhound didn't have her first season until she was 2 and a half she came to us straight from her trainer and she told us she had never had her season suppressed and had not had her first season she is now about every 10 months. I do know of a show greyhound hat did not have her first season until she was 4 years old.

Just a note to thank you all for your positive replies. Regards,

Ive had terriers that have run clear seasons, another was in season one day but out the next

Very frustrating if the said bitch is of a worker worth breeding from but thats nature ;)
