Thank you for your good wishes but unfortunately the powers that be i.e Fed committee have chosen to refuse My son Harry and my wife Karen's request of membership and are not allowing Harry to run his dog Fluke at the Champs next week even though I have fulfilled their requests with ref to apologies to Kinsley greyhound stadium management over an incident some 12 months ago.The Fed are making it very awkward for Harry although they have invited us to the Golden Jacket event!!!!! and are punishing a 12 year old boy for my misgivings. An open letter of apology was sent to the Whippet news shortly after the incident but was never published and the management at Kinsley stadium have accepted my verbal apology and did not require a written one but were hoping to see my family in attendance.I realise that you cannot register on the day but a week prior to the event cannot be classed as on the day!!!

To anyone who was upset by my language I will again apologise hoping that it will be accepted and we can move on.

Steve, even if you were in the wrong it all sounds a bit heavy on NWRF side, perhaps if you were running no hope dogs there'd be a different outcome  ??? Or is that just me synical?

As for the non publication of your letter - we've been down that road before haven't we!

Anyway hope to see you and your dogs back racing soon, tell Harry keep his chin up - poor lad!!

My point entirely Steve, off the top of my head i can think of a handful of people who for one reason or another don't run with fed who all have more than one dog (i have never had a problem with fed but obviously quite a few people have).

Just look at the results of the opens lately ok they've not been bad turnout's but there are some weight classes which are seriously lacking dogs, 4 of the said peoples dogs i know are in these weight classes!!!

Is it not all getting a bit too serious??

Everyone will have go at the organisations we run under at some point - if either committee refused membership of those people every time they had something to say which disagreed with the organistaion there would be very few people left running.

I'm sure you could kick yourself now for whatever you did that was "so wrong" but there's a few things that need changing in whippet racing before we start to kick people out of the sport.

No I couldn't kick myself, whats done and said is done, but its a sad state of affairs when 2 grown adults have a 12 year old in tears at a race meeting for something he had no control over.

I was present at the meeting were you had a problem with the Fed, and while I thought you were wrong at the time and over-reacted, I thought you had a valid point. You have apologised for the (not serious) incident and really that should be enough. Not being allowed to run with the Fed now does sound like a petty personal vendetta by those in power.

The fact that your letter was not published in Whippet News is not that suprising considering the apparantly cosy relationship between Whippet News and those who run the main bodies. Fluke`s chances for a title and overall probably don`t help your chances of running - I wish I could feel that this wasn`t the case. You are not the first with a good dog to be prevented from running with a racing body due to a weak reason. Unfortunatly this devalues the prestige of any event where such a situation occurs - go back a couple of years and think back as to the validity of supreme bitch when Xstacy and Little Madam weren`t present.

As far as Harry is concerned it`s a sad way for him to find out that adults don`t always behave any better than his peers.

I suppose this means we`ll weigh out, run in the five dog heat, with the favorites, us in orange jacket but at least I sleep at night.
