Is anyone interested in starting a Whippet obedience club in the South West ?? .........I know of a fab trainer, but need to know numbers of interested folk's :D .........We'll be based in the South Gloucestershire area btw .........

If only I lived a bit closer :( :( :(

Very best of luck with this, Hannah :luck: :luck: :luck: - and for everyone who doesn't think you can train a whippet - we do have a whippet obedience section of the Whippet Club, which has done quite a few displays at Crufts!!

As a lot of the members are from the South - the meetings tend to be at Brookwood near Woking in Surrey, but are always good fun. AND there will be obedience classes at the Whippet Club Open show next Saturday in Haddenham, nr Aylesbury, Bucks!  (though the entries have already closed).

PS Whippets also love agility - though mine does tend to like to do a lap of honour BEFORE he starts a course, which is why we do it just for fun and don't compete!!! :p

Thank's Beth :D .........Whippets are very easily trained and all of my lot are very obedient ........Just be nice to do something else with them other than just running them ;) ........I'll get this off the ground then think about the agility next (w00t) as yes Mark i'm always up for a challenge lol

I'd be interested Hannah but not able to come all the time - perhaps only once a month.

I have done a little bit of agility with Star - but she was quite useless. Even the trainer was gobsmacked at how 'unmotivated' she was.

Anyway - if it wasnt restricted to pedigree whippets Leia would like to come too.

I bet your lot will be fantastic at it - especially Connie. Good luck with it. :luck:

Once a month sounds fine Rae :)) .......And Leia will be more than welcome  .......As for my lot they said they are looking forward to it  as they love being told what to do :- " .......and Collie Connie's got a head start with her training as she's damaged the muscle in her left shoulder, so no frisbee and lead walking for 4-8 weeks (w00t) ............on the plus side though Little Eir says he'll be safe for a while :D

I'd be interested if it was during the day, but not evenings

Right the trainer has agreed to train us (w00t) ......It'll be £8 per session and we need the minimum of 6 Whippets in the class per week, to cover Ann's overheads  ........The dogs will be heading towards the bronze, silver then gold good citizens :D .........The weekly day is to be decided between us who want to do it and Ann ......pm me with preferences

Woody and Bean already have their silvers, they'll be rusty and so will I (I always was the worst one) :b but I'd like to train them for the gold award if possible.

Also I would be interested in having a go with Whizz who would be starting from scratch.

Depends on where you hold the training and what day/time people want.

I would be interested but don't have a whippet - would a lurcher pup be okay of 13 weeks?! I also live in South Glos (Thornbury) so any training club locally would be a real assett! - The trainer wouldn't be Ann Nash by any chance would it?
