I took my 14 week greyhoundXwhippet pup Fly to obedience school last night and to say i am proud of her is an understatement!
She has only just finished her jabs and been out for 2 short walks so i was expecting her to be awed by half a dozen dogs in a church hall as she is quite a timid/shy girl. She wanted to play with all the dogs smaller than herself though she just froze when the bigger dogs said hello she didn't freak out as she has done before.
Her heelwork was perfection and she remained focused on me through all the distractions going on. We did a perfect recall and retrieve and she even sat to present me her toy. We did 3 "downs" that i'd never even taught her to do as i was still teaching her the sit, despite me just saying down she did it and i was amazed, thought it was a fluke but she did it 3 times without me having to touch her so she must have watched my other dogs at home and learnt what down meant
Next it got more difficult with a scent retrieve, hid her toy under one of 5 buckets and she sniffed each one before knocking the last one over and getting her toy, she was so pleased with herself and i was over the moon with how well she did.
Youngest in the class and first time there but the teacher said we were the best team there last night, my head is still swollen i'm such a proud mommy
