ODIN
Odin is a 2 year old ex-coursing dog who was not fast enough and became surplus to his owners requirements. He is a big, beautiful boy with a soft white coat and black eye patches.
Odin is a big friendly giant of a dog who is very laid back and tends to take things in his stride. He loves people and really enjoys getting lots of fuss and attention. He walks nicely on the lead and after his daily romp is content to laze the rest of his day away. Odin also gets on very well with the other greyhounds in our kennels and travels well in the car.
Odin has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow him time to get accustomed and learn the house rules. It usually takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.
The beautiful Odin has not yet been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption. Often ex-racing greyhounds take a bit of socialisation work to realise smaller breeds are in fact dogs as they would never have seen them before.
Like most greyhounds, Odin will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs who are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also dont shed as much as other dog breeds such as retrievers or labradors, and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
This gorgeous boy is currently being kenneled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting the lovely Odin, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire which must be filled out prior to adoption. Thanks!
