went for a lovely walk yesterday evening on wimbledon common.......Picture the scene....sun just beginning to set....swans swimming on the lake....Oscar running around happily UNTIL he decided that the lily pads seemed like a good place to run and.......

Well the look on his face said it all.

His head emerged covered in pond weed and a look of sheer horror on his face!!!

It would have made such a wonderful picture had we not been laughing so much!!

Still.....at least we know he can swim! :p

Ha ha , I laughed too at the thought of it

Poor chap, that must have been a nasty shock for him! Grace did exactly the same thing on the duckweed in my little pond the first day she was here, aged just 8 weeks. I felt so sorry for her that I didn't have the heart to make her sleep on her own downstairs, so she came up to my bed and has slept there every night since! :D

Perhaps getting wet was worth it after all!!! :p

I thought that Oscar may have learnt his lesson having falling through ice in the winter but obviously I was wrong :))

:D that's funny as I also have a water phobic whippy - he jumped into a pond without realising what it was when he was about 4 months old and just froze. He was so traumatised that we had to lift him out and ever since he won't even walk in a puddle and if he does inadvertently get wet in some way he goes temporarily mental and does that speed of light running and digging thing in all directions which is very funny :clown:

it's hysterical isn't it but what always amazes me is how precise he is when he does it - even if he has 'a turn' in the house he has never broke or even caught anything which is very clever considering the speed

The only inanimate object that Oscar has ever knocked over is the husband......don`t think that counts!!! 8)

Oh that would have been a sight to see, bless him

Oh bless him :D

I often wonder what goes on in a whippets head :-

My Rita did exactly the same in the same pond when she was six months old - she avoids water like the plague now!

Funnily enough, in spite of her first day home misadventure with the pond and also going a header into a stream in one of her early off the lead sessions when she was whizzing about, Grace still enjoys wading into a lake or stream up to her armpits to cool down on a hot day. Pouring rain or a bath is a different matter :D
