Hi,
We have a 13 year old rescue greyhound. His teeth were in bad condiiton when we got him, and he had 26 out a couple of years ago.
I was looking at his teeth today and noticed the two front top incisors were black at the top and the gums red. I am going to phone the vets, and am fairly sure they will recommend extraction. There are a few problems, due to his age and the fact they told us a while back he had an irregular heart beat, and I am afraid he will not survive the anesthetic, and wondered if anyone knew whether vets ever used local anesthetic rather than general.
My husband is worried about me phoning the vets as he doesn't think he will get through it, but I couldn't bear the thought he might be in pain.
He has a really good appetite and had dentastix every day, but I suppose these only affect his back teeth.
Any help greatly appreciated.
