Soon my 9 month old, very active Shepador bitch will lose her playmate, a Doberman birch who is moving away.
Would you recommend I get another puppy or a more sensible older bitch, need to make a decision soon

She’s only 9 month old so another pup wouldn’t be out of the question, or if you don’t want another dog then just enjoy the one you have and put all your energy into making it a great dog.

Have you thought about a rescue dog about the same age or up to 2 yrs ....

You've got more chance of them accepting each other if your new dog is a male. Bitches can get on really well, or can hate each other, and there is no way you can guarantee which it will be.

As it's a "playmate" you want, IMO it's better for her to meet suitable dogs outside the home and come home to being an only dog. You are the one she should be interacting with. But obviously you make your own decisions, so I'm simply putting these points forward.
