This might be a really silly question but here goes anyway!!

In the corner of montys eye (the corner nearest the nose) the inner eyelid seems to have a dark stain on it, the other eye is just plain white. This is not the eyeball but the inner eyelid thingy.

I can't remeber if he has always had this or if it has just developed, he is booked into the vets on monday, but i thought i'd see if anyone else had this? Is it normal?

Thanks

Sid has the same thing, the inner eyelid doesn't close properly and looks really creepy sometimes - is that what you mean? I did mention it to my vet and she said that as long as it isn't causing him any problems, which it isn't, to leave alone. It can be rectified but it means a g-a which I am not too happy about putting him through. I would be interested to hear what your vet says - if of course it is the same problem.

Any chance of a pic? - it is difficult to understand if you mean on the actual 'lid' - where it comes into the corner and where gunk accumulates sometimes.

There are seveal lpossibilities.

Does it look as it if could possibly be dried blood - if he has just scratched himself.

Is it proud at all...... could it be a tick???

It may well simply be pigment - what colour is he generally.

I wonder if you mean that the nictating membrane (like the third eyelid on a cat) has come over and that is discoloured - doesn't sound like it, but you refer to the inner eyelid and I am not sure what you mean by that.

Most importantly though....... is it bothering him at all.. is he rubbing his eye, or squinting. If not...... it is probably nothing - just you being a careful mum and worrying.

Hope the vet puts your mind at rest... sure he/she will.

Can't get a photo, it just doesn't show up and he won't hold still!

I think it might be the nictating membrane, it is stained the colour of his pupil (brownish) just in the corner where gunk can develop (although there is no gunk) The rest of the membrane and the one on the other side is white.

Anyway, will see what the vet says on monday. Thanks for your help.

PS. Have just realised that i have probably posted this whole topic in the wrong section - sorry!!

It turns out it is just pigmentation on his third eyelid - nothing to worry about at all :)

Thanks for your help

Wonderful....... peace of mind restored then.

Better to go the vets once too often, than miss that all important visit!
