Maisie, our lovely 11 1/2 year old Labrador has just been diagnosed with insulinoma , I realise that in dogs this is terminal , we are not willing to put her through an operation to extend her life for a few months as she is very much a home bird and would be so traumatised by this. We are making her life as wonderful as possible for whatever time that she has left, she has home cooked rice, chicken and veg - 8 times daily and special ' treat walks ' she can't manage a big walk with the other dogs so I just do , maybe a quick swim in the river , few tricks ( she loves being clever) walk on lane then more food. She was diagnosed in February and seems to be stabilised at moment ( no fits for last 2 weeks) on just diet, with option of prednisolone if she deteriorates. Just wondered if anybody else has a dog with insulinoma , just for support ?

:wub:Sorry I have no experience of this disease but send love to your dog

So very sorry that you are going through this. We have not experienced, this, but did have one unexpectedly diagnosed with bone cancer at almost 15. We were only able to have her another 3.5 weeks from diagnosis, but in that time we did all of her favourite things (except long walks), let her have all her favourite food, took her to the pub, visited her favourite people and spoiled her absolutely rotten for the time we had left. I think you are doing the right thing.
