Hi, Got a dog just turned 16 months old and have started entering him for races at my club we only have 12 dogs turn up each meeting. When racing he traps well but goes in behind and is happy to do so,but wont overtake,he seems abit nervous.Whether he wonders about getting hurt or lack of confidence,at the end of the race he tucks into the lure.Or is he just used to a 3 dog race due to lack of numbers at club level? Any advice :)

Ask one of your club members to bring an old racer to trial with your dog, he should learn to go by that with ease and if the old racer is a true runner, ie a non tackler then all the better for your dogs confidence. This should have been done before your dog entered any racing at all.
