Well done Beth and Zephyr on you first race this week - it goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Aaah, thanks so much June, and for being so patient with us both - as this is a new experience for both of us! :- " :p He will be racing as 'Westerly Breeze', as Zephyr is greek for the God of the West Wind.

Here is a pic of him at home afterwards, as naturally I forgot my camera.

Can't come next time, so hope to come along March 19th

Thanks again.

looks nice, but if you have just started trialing him, i would try and get a bit of weight of gradually, before you start racing with other dogs, as he will be put under extra presure carrying the weight when up against a dog of the same speed. Just my opinion but I hope it helps, good luck with him in the future.

Hi there - many thanks for your comments  Trouble is, Zephyr's main hobby is showing, and though I totally agree with you as regards racing, and I can see very clearly when he is around the much leaner racing whippets that he looks quite chunky :b - I've got to try to stay somewhere in the middle to do both! He also enjoys agility, has 3-4 miles walking every day and is a manic frisbee catcher, so he is very fit. :sweating:

It's a lot of fun, and we know we haven't got much of a chance really, but as long as he has a great time, I don't mind!

Hi Beth,

Really pleased to hear that Zephyr cleared and is racing. He looked a natural the last time I saw him and really seemed to be enjoying himself.

Well done
