PANTHER

Panther is a 5 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. He has worked hard during his racing life and it is definitely time for him to retire and discover the comforts of the home life. He is a rather striking black tuxedo boy with white trim and beautiful, piercing eyes.

Panther is a lovely quiet boy who is very content with the simple things in life. He relishes any chance to just stretch out and relax in the sun, and has a very calm, quiet demeanour. Panther loves people too and will soak up any attention you give him, though is not in your face about asking for more. He is polite and mannerly and all in all a very easy boy to keep happy.

Panther has sadly spent all of his life in racing kennels, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow him time to get accustomed to the home environment. It usually takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. It probably wont take Panther long to find the sofa!

Gorgeous Panther has not yet been tested with small dogs but this can be carried out prior to adoption. Often ex-racing greyhounds take a bit of work on socialising to realise smaller breeds are in fact dogs as they would never have seen them before. He is not cat friendly.

Like most greyhounds, Panther will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30 min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010**

Panther is still waiting for his forever home. He is a lovely easy going boy who is friendly and affectionate with everyone. We are sure he’s going to make a beautiful couch potato!

Since coming to us Panther has made friends with another newcomer, Oscar (pictured below). Panther and Oscar have become great buddies and a home for two would be their idea of heaven. Oscar is a slightly timid boy and Panther’s calm, easy going nature has done wonders with Oscar and really helped him come out of his shell. They can be homed separately, however, if the right home comes up.

**UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2010**

Panther has now travelled across to the UK where he waits for his forever home, ideally with his best mate Oscar. We would like to find these bro’s a home together, but they can be separated if the right single homes come along.

**UPDATE: DECEMBER 2010**

Panther is doing very well in our UK kennels and remains a very soft, cuddly boy. He is still the leader for his friend Oscar who does still lean on him when uncertain in unfamiliar situations. We would love to find a foster home for this pair as they are sure to truly blossom once in a loving home environment.

Right now Panther is very excitable around small dogs, having never seen them before. He is not suitable to go to a home with small toy or terrier breeds, and must be muzzled when out in areas with other dogs running around him. We are appealing for an experienced owner for this lovely boy and his friend Oscar, who are comfortable with keeping him muzzled and understand that his reaction to small dogs does not reflect on his suitability as a perfect house pet. Apart from this Panther is a really superb boy who is more than content with some good food, a warm bed and lots of cuddles.

Like many ex-racing greyhounds, Oscar is now learning that dogs can come in all shapes and sizes. Right now he is excitable around small dogs and must be muzzled when they’re around. With lots of positive socialisation with many different dogs this boy will improve, however, all he needs is a bit of time and patience. We are requesting experienced owners for this boy and his pal Panther, who understand the need for them to be muzzled but who know what fantastic house pets they will make.

**UPDATE: JANUARY 2011**

Panther is still looking for his forever home with his best mate Oscar.

We would love to find this boy a short term foster home while he waits to be adopted, as we feel he now needs the one-on-one attention that only a foster home can give for him to truly start to blossom.

This gorgeous lad is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. He can be homed throughout the UK but please note that you will be required to travel to meet and collect him. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
