Can anyone explain to me exactly how panting allows the dog to cool down please. And also if excess panting can lead to any health problems

Thanks :b

Dogs don't have sweat glands like we do. When we're hot we sweat to cool down the body by excreting. Panting kind of works the same way (very simplistic explanation) for dogs.

Excessive panting can also be an indicator of pain though.
