Peggy or Peggy Weggy Woo Woo to give her her full name is a 1 year old Crossbreed, possibly Collie x Whippet Lurcher and is currently on foster in Bridgend.

The PWWW Fact File

Dog status: Very good

Cat status: Not formally tested but could be rehomed with cats

Child status: Good, could be rehomed with children

House training: Almost there!

Home alone: Not suitable for full time workers, would like a home where someone is around for the best part of the day

Basic training: Quick learner and has learnt the basics whilst in foster.

Peggy is a young intelligent dog who is looking for a home which will continue with her training.

Peggy is very sociable with other dogs although as she has been in season she has had limited contact with dogs outside the foster home but those she has met she has been very playful with and totally non aggressive. She will stay clear of any trouble and will listen is if a dog tells her off. Although Peggy is playful this involves wiggling, licking and sometimes a playful yap. She is not the sort of dog to bounce on others and seems to have excellent doggie manners. However she is young and full of energy so needs a dog that will match her energy levels and even in polite play she could annoy an older or quieter dog. Peggy can be rehomed with or without canine company.

Peggy has not been formally cat tested as she is not in foster with cats and her being in season has prevented her visiting a local home with cats. However when she has seen cats out and about she is curious in a playful way and is easily called away. She can be formally cat tested if needed but her fosterer feels she would be able to live with dog savvy cats with careful introductions.

Peggy loves people and will jump up to say hello. She has now learnt not to jump up on people she knows but will need more training to proof this in all situations. She has not met many children due to being walked outside “normal” hours but is kind and friendly and would be able to live with children. She is young so the jumping and mouthing must be considered when considering rehoming Peggy.

Peggy has bags of energy and would benefit from a home where there were people around for most of the day. She has been left for short periods and has not been destructive nor vocal and does settle. She is a young dog though and discovers items round the house that she finds a little bit exciting. As time has gone on she is less interested in random items in the house but will still steal socks if given a chance. Focusing her interests on dog toys and chews has been successful and she is now very happy to chomp on a stag bar and it will keep her occupied for hours. She is now starting to take toys out of the toy box herself and is beginning to understand that these are for dogs and shoes are not. However Peggy has probably not lived in a house previously so needed help initially with her house training. She is now clean in the house but needs someone in to allow her access to the outside to continue to keep her clean inside and the time left would need to be increased slowly before she could be left for longer periods of time. She may be suitable for some part time workers depending on the shift patterns however we feel at this time she wouldn’t be suitable for full time workers even with a break in the middle of the day.

Peggy has shown no possessive behaviour and is happy to be touched all over and is fine at the vets. There was some drooling initially in the car but now she is more than and gets excited for walks. She travels on a seat hammock on the back seat at the moment as the two bigger foster dogs are in the boot. She does need to be carried into the car as she is reluctant to jump in and seems scared. We think if she was able to go in the boot with the other dogs this would be less of a problem.

Peggy has a condition called ocular dermoid which basically means when she was developing in the womb some cells went astray and ended up in her eye so she has a patch of fur coming off her eye ball! These will be removed when she is spayed.

Ideally Peggy would be suitable to live with someone who is around most of the time or will only leave her for a couple of hours on a regular basis. She would be fine for someone who works from home as she has been very settled when ignored. She has a very playful nature and a young or playful dog to live with would be ideal. If not she needs regular playdates with other dogs out and about. Peggy has a very sweet nature and would be an easy first dog for an active family who can give her the exercise she needs.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk

Is Peggy still looking for her home? :)
