Penny is an 8 week puppy, probably Lurcher, who was abandoned in the pound at 5 weeks old with her sister. She is currently on foster in Wigan.

The Poppy Fact File

Dog status: In foster with dogs of various sizes but more reserved than her sister.

Cat status: In foster with cats and curious and likes to play.

Child status: Good, well-handled and socialised but does of course mouth like all puppies of this age.

House training: Coming along nicely but still at a basic puppy level

Home alone: Building gradually due to her age. We do not rehome pups to full time workers.

Basic training: Blank canvas for someone to train though she already knows her name.

Penny is a blank canvas like all puppies and you will get out as much as you put in. Penny was the smaller of the two sisters and spent a couple of nights at the vets as she was poorly. However she is a wee fighter and is now doing great.

Penny is the shyer of the two puppies and prefers to be on the sidelines rather than joining in with the rough and tumble. She is clever for her age and is happy to share her bed with the other dogs. She is in foster with cats and is curious and play so would be better with dog savvy cats.

She will need further work with travelling in the car as she is not as settled as her sister and is shyer when meeting new people. However she loves a fuss and a cuddle when she gets to know you. She hasn’t started training yet but already knows her name.

Penny is looking for a family home with children of any age who are aware that puppies can and do mouth and jump up. She can be rehomed as an only dog or with other dogs and cats as long as she gets lots of human company. She does like her own space rather than being in the thick if things so a quieter home may be better for Penny.

Puppies need to be neutered at their new owner’s expense. Neutering is a condition of adoption and something we follow up to ensure it has been completed.

We do not rehome puppies to full time workers

Puppies must also be taken to training classes and this will be followed up. If you do not know of training classes in your area please research this before you contact us about rehoming.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered (if over 6 months), vaccinated, flea treated, wormed and micro-chipped prior to adoption. If a puppy is not old enough to be neutered then this must be carried out at the owner’s expense when old enough, and the relevant form completed by the vet and returned to Hope Rescue. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
