We went to see Des today just so I could get advice on how to treat Pennys gracilis tear. Almost 100ks to get there & it was very hard to find. Where I thought it was just looked like like an empty derelict house. Tricky, I parked & went closer & saw in tiny print veterinary surgery. Went in & said to the receptionist you need bigger signage. She smiled & said 'we dont want anyone to know' Hahaha, they only see greyhounds & thankfully, racing whippets. I was lucky to get Penny seen to.

He gave Penny a good going over & found a shoulder tear as well. He said the gracilis isn't bad thankfully & got his big blue texta pen out & drew on the muscles I have to massage. He also showed me how to do some physio on her.

He does it pretty much the same as George Schofield except that he has the advantage of being a qualified vet. His price was very reasonable too, I wish he wasn't so far away.

I told him about him being mentioned on this forum & he just smiled.

They let me put a flyer up about our new racing club too :)

Sorry guys, your loss is our gain.

Linda

Glad you went to see Des, it would have been along way for us to go and see him (w00t) We saw him when he had a surgery near Milton Keynes my dog had a broken hock back then. hope you got your little girl sorted, and we wish you good luck with your whippet club over there :luck: :luck:

Regards Tina

Yes, he is pretty brilliant isn't he. He might not be close to you but at least he's in the same country :( He always used to tell me that I looked ever so like a friend of his in Australia and kept asking if I had any relatives out there. Sadly not or we could go and visit them

Glad you're getting Penny sorted Linda. We miss Des too. We only saw him a couple of times, but spoke on the phone for advice too. As you say, our loss is your gain. We do have another greyhound vet who I believe learnt all he knows from Des, (Simon), and he is great too - but always sooooo busy. He doesn't want many people to know where he is now either, as he is so busy. I suppose you can only see so many dogs a day :sweating:

:luck: Good luck with the massaging

Well June, hopefully all is not lost for you. He had a lovely young fellow in the consulting room with him. He made sure the young bloke could see what he was doing & a couple of times specifically had him look & feel Penny. I dumbly said "are you a student"? & Des said "no. he's vet" I am sorry but I've already forgotten his name but he has the loveliest Irish accent, we Aussies melt when we hear one, which is probably why I forgot his name. He's over here on holidays & is obviously learning a bit from Des while he's here. He'll go back home with his brain full of new skills.
